When people look at my pictures I want them to feel the way they do when they want to read a line of a poem twice.
— Robert Frank
“It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera... they are made with the eye, heart, and head.”
The Poet’s Lens is the intricately woven photojournalism of Arizona-based artist, Christine Jewel. Raised in the countryside and drawn to presence at an early age— poetry and the natural world quickly became her sanctuaries, offering a sense of solace and restoration during an otherwise difficult childhood. Now after working as a professional photographer (and writer) for over a decade, she has had the honor of documenting families, love stories, and other artists across the globe, and has worked with hundreds of brands to create content which suits their visions best. In addition to this she has also organized and led three photography retreats across the US to date, and often mentors other photographers to help their own art + workflow flourish. Through The Poet’s Lens, she aims to cultivate a lasting sense of wonder and reverence in her clients / audience by encapsulating moments of true presence, beauty and grace.
When she is not photographing or writing, she enjoys swimming at the river, picnics with her boys, hiking with her pup, practicing Ayurveda, listening to ambient music & witnessing the divine mysteries all around us…
